JUST MUSIC FILES Requires a Psion 3a. Total size of unzipped archive 188594 bytes, 111791 bytes in \WRD\ (7 files, including this), 76803 bytes in \OPO\ (5 files). Installation: Put Cmgm_v4, Cmgm4s, Cmsm_v3 and Cmsm3s in an \OPO\ directory, and put Jm files in a \WRD\ directory. The Jm.wrd files have been formatted to display correctly at smallest zoom: some layout distortion will occur at larger zooms. The whole unzipped archive will fit comfortably onto a 256K Flash SSD. Description: Jm1-3.wrd contains a comprehensive introduction to Just Music theory and notation. Cmsm_v3 ("Chronomorph Special Model, version 3"), and its sequencer version (Cmsm3s) are designed to be used with the data from the Jm files to define the form and contents of music. The default setting is the set 4.10 which can be found in the Jm4.wrd file: reference to this will clarify the use of the Cmsm modules with other sets. Cmgm_v4 ("Chronomorph General Model, version 4") and its sequencer version (Cmgm4s) are extrapolated from Cmsm. They have been designed to define information of the just music type but need not be constrained by reference to a definite Jm set. It may be considered as generating a Jm "plasma". In Cmsm_v3, material appears thus: 0.000 [-4 b- (-2)] [+3 f (-4) ] {0.000} 50.000 i.e.:- start point [formant,or global tonic local tonic (transposition in semi-tones) ][ibid.] {node length} duration In the example, two notes are played simultaneously, an a-flat forte and a d-flat double-forte. "Node length" indicates duration elapsed since last multiple note event. For comparison, a similar Cmgm line is 1.067 [ c+ (0) < sfz> ] 4 start point [ local tonic (transposition in semi-tones) ] note-symbol which means a c-sharp sfortzato starting at 1.067 units (centimetres, seconds, etc) indicated by note value 4 (ie, if base unit 1 is a demi-semi-quaver, this event's symbol will be a quaver). Cmgm can also be set to generate multiphonic events ("chords"). In the sequencer versions the durations are notated in MIDI format (i.e. bar, beat and click, click being a value between 0 and 95). This may be found useful both for realising compositions on standard MIDI sequencing devices such as the Yamaha QY series and also for transcribing compositions into conventional western music notation. [I would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to undertake versions of these modules that would allow this information to be sent directly to General MIDI devices.] Also included is a "S-calc" a simple calculator for crunching raw integer durations into the bar-beat-click format. In both Cmgm and Cmsm the note name "d" is taken as being the universal tonic, "+" after a note name means sharpened, "-" means flattened; "x" and "=" mean double-sharp and double-flat. Cmgm and Cmsm contain options to print either to screen or printer. ********Copyright notice******* The files that constitute Jstmsc.zip are free shareware that should only be distributed in the archive Jstmsc.zip or some other similar archive format and they must not be altered in ANY WAY WHATSOEVER.
